Love and Support for the Giallonardo Family

Dominic Anthony Giallonardo
5.30.01 – 11.1.2020

Since 2015, Dominic Giallonardo’s friends and family rallied in support as he faced surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treating Ewing’s sarcoma. Dom faced challenges no boy should have to endure but emerged a strong young man. He bravely tackled every obstacle and humbly rejected being called an inspiration.

As we mourn the loss of Dominic, words and deeds seem insufficient, but there are small ways we can help. Keep Dominic’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Consider a monetary donation. Alone, a few dollars might not seem like much, but collectively, we can make an impactful contribution to their medical and funeral expenses.

Dominic’s Story:

During the summer of 2015, when Dom was in the eighth grade, he was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that forms in the bone or soft tissue. Dominic courageously endured chemotherapy and surgery resulting in the removal of his right hip and part of his pelvis. He fought cancer twice and recovered, surprising his physicians, coaches, and peers when he returned to the basketball court and the diamond. This July, after 11 more rounds of chemo, scans revealed his tumor was spreading. Dominic began radiation and anticipated beginning a new medical trial. Unfortunately, scans revealed that his cancer had spread throughout his body and he was no longer a candidate for the trial. Dominic boldly continued fighting, taking the last treatment option available to him. He spent his final days surrounded by his loving family: his parents, Christine and Carmen, his younger brother Dante as well as numerous other family members and friends.
