Our family is reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for prayers, love, and support for my little brother, Zach, his wife- Serena, and their young children, Oakley (6) and Brynnlee (3).
After a long and incredibly courageous battle with brain cancer, Serena has now been placed on hospice care and has been given an estimated 1–3 months to live.
Serena’s fight began when she was just a child. She survived an ependymoma tumor at around 7 years old and had been cancer-free for many years. But in September of 2023—shortly after celebrating Brynnlee’s first birthday—Serena began experiencing severe headaches. A CT scan revealed that her cancer had returned.
Since then, she has undergone another tumor removal, faced complications requiring a shunt, rounds of radiation, and bravely endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy.
When new, inoperable tumors reappeared in December of 2024, she continued to battle seizures and underwent additional experimental IV treatments in hopes of improvement. Zach and Serena even traveled to MD Anderson in Houston seeking a second opinion and hopes of new options that could bring healing or more time together.
At this point, her care has transitioned fully to comfort and peace.
As you can imagine, the emotional and financial weight on this young family has been overwhelming. Between multiple hospitalizations, medical bills, travel for treatment, and now preparing for end-of-life arrangements and upcoming funeral and burial expenses, Zach is facing more than any husband and father should ever have to carry.
We want to make sure Serena’s final days are filled with love—not financial fear.
If you feel led to help, any amount—no matter how small—will go directly toward:
• Serena’s ongoing hospice needs
• Funeral, burial, and end-of-life arrangements
• Medical bills from her many hospital stays
• Travel expenses related to her care
• Support for Zach, Oakley and Brynnlee as they navigate the unimaginable
Please continue to lift them in your prayers. Your love, encouragement, and compassion mean more than you know.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God…” — Romans 8:28
“For I know the plans I have for you…” — Jeremiah 29:11
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting this young family during the most difficult chapter of their lives. Your kindness, prayers and support is helping carry them through.
