It’s with deep sadness that on December 22, 2022 Natasha endured a tragic accident and loss of her first home to a fire and with it she lost her loved ones and closest friends: Albus, Barack, and Vincent. Thankfully, Natasha is safe but she will have a long road ahead.
Natasha’s devoted and beloved “boys” are the centre of her everything as she is to them. In September this year, Natasha bought her first home with plenty of space for the cats (Vincent and Barack) to run around in, leap, climb, sit on window sills and explore and with a backyard fit for her furry king, Albus.
Barack, Albus and Natasha adopted each other while Natasha was a law student in Toronto. Five years ago, they drove 3 days from Toronto and moved to Edmonton to start a new life, leaving her lawyer life behind, and they’ve been by her side the whole time. During the life changing road trip, they were angels the whole time and seemed excited for the new adventure.
As they say, a Dog is a woman’s best friend, Albus has been her beloved companion through ups and downs, thick and thin, and he will be remembered as the most wonderful dog. Albus is the coolest dude with the most handsome personality and outfits, cutest heart shaped paws, uses arm rests in cars, frolics in the woods, and loves a good photo opp. He is more like a person than a dog- he even sleeps on the bed with a pillow :) He has a natural way of making a person feel at ease and he has helped more people than he knows through life’s challenges.
Beautiful and brawny Barack is the one Natasha identified with the most and has guided her to making good life decisions- he’s the reason she is where she is today.
And then there were 4…Vincent joined Natasha’s little family in Edmonton and instantly they fell in love. He was rescued after being abandoned and found almost frozen through one night in a snow bank and was brought to the humane society. 7 months later, Natasha met Vincent at the cat cafe and knew he was hers. He has fit right in, is the most social of the animals, unafraid of strangers, and will open doors to get to where he needs to go! He is known for sitting by (or on) Natasha through migraines and anxiety attacks. He is the middle sibling and acts as the middleman between Albus and Barack when they have disagreements. Natasha has said that Vincent is the “glue” of their family.
Although their time has come, we know that Natasha has given them the best possible care, home, and we know they were loved each and every day. We hope the fond memories Natasha has will ease the pain of grief for her during this difficult time.
While Natasha deals with the endless details and moving forward to rebuild her home, we would like to reach out to our community to support Natasha in relieving some of the immediate financial burden she will be facing.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Love, Natasha’s family and partner, Scott.
