Help for Makenna’s recovery and her devoted family

On December 10, 2024, Makenna, Gabriel's girlfriend, was in a tragic car accident. Makenna was life-flighted to Bryan West where they have taken exceptional care of her. She was on her way to physical therapy where she had just learned to walk, and even run a bit again after a rare tumor was found near her spine in April 2024. She's had such a rough year but is undeniably incredible and tough!

At 5:21 pm, their baby girl, the most beautiful, perfect little bundle, was born at rest as a result of the accident. Just 18 days before their due date.

While I know Gabe and Makenna are not looking for handouts, they have some very tough times coming. For the foreseeable future, Gabe will likely not be working (he has been working hard as an equipment operator), but Makenna's recovery is top priority. She will be at Bryan West continuing her recovery and healing with Gabe and their family by her side for the next 6 weeks. After speaking with Gabe’s mother this evening, Makenna will be transferred to Madonna after she is recovered fully at Bryan. Only one person is able to stay with her at a given time and this tight-knit family lives 90 miles away from the hospital. They are facing expenses of travel, sleeping accommodations, food, gas, etc.

Here is a note from Makenna’s mom: “Gabe is so amazing. He is so gentle with my sweet girl and so very mindful about everything. He is a great nurse. I appreciate this fella so much. The way he loves Makenna and his unwavering support for her is truly something astounding. Most grown men I know don't have the heart that Gabe does. Like his mom said, 'I don't know what he's built out of, but it's something solid.' I couldn't imagine Makenna doing this with anybody else next to her. He encourages her and pushes her in the most loving ways. I am so thankful for him.”

We will continue to post updates on her recovery. She is currently still in the ICU but is making unbelievable strides in the right direction. This young couple and their immediate family need all the support you can give.
