Love and Support for Jonathan McElroy

Donation protected
First, thank you for taking the time to read this. Jon McElroy and his family have been in a devastating medical and financial struggle for more than a year. Your generosity can help brighten their hearts and lighten their heavy load.  If you know Jon, he is the most positive and radiant person, a fun-loving friend and brother, a devoted father to Reece, and a caring partner to Tara.  Even now, fighting for his life, this had not changed.  We are optimistic and thank you for your support.  We all need a little help sometimes and FUCK CANCER!

As some of you may know, about a year ago, Jon was diagnosed with G2 mucinous adenocarcinoma of the appendix, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. In October 2019, Jon spent over a month in the hospital after his appendix had burst spewing out cancer cells into his peritoneal cavity. Jon suffered through multiple surgeries and the removal of 8 inches of his colon. Over the rest of 2019, Jon was able to battle back and in early January 2020, he was cleared of cancer. In March 2020, the cancer came back in the form of a large grapefruit sized mass above his right hip. During August 2020, and another month-long hospital stay, surgery was performed to remove the mass. The doctors were able to dispatch the tumor, but during surgery, they were forced to cutout portions of both of his psoas muscle and the femoral nerve, leaving Jon unable to use his right leg. The post-op pathology showed that the cancer had spread to other parts of his body making it Stage 4 and life threatening.

Currently, Jon is recovering from his most recent surgery, learning how to walk again, and waiting to have a port installed to begin a six-month chemotherapy cycle.  Jon is in a constant state of pain, he is a shell of the man we know.  He is unable to work due to the 16 medications he is currently on and his inability to walk. Tara continues to work full time and lovingly take care of Jon and the household best she can.  As a family, we are looking for alternative treatments not covered by insurance.  Stem cell therapy has shown promise in regenerating nerves, but the cost is astronomical.  Jon and his family could use all of the financial support they can get.

Your kind donations will go directly to Jon and  Tara to help deal with the financial repercussions of his current condition, so they can focus on healing and supporting one another.
