This GoFundMe page was made to help my aunt, Jean Farrell, as she was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 soft tissue sarcoma and faces a difficult journey ahead of her.

Aunt Jean is a 64-year-old devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother of two. She is a very strong, independent, and hardworking woman who has always provided for both herself and her husband by working at Target for over 10 years.

Unfortunately, her diagnosis combined with her aggressive treatment plan means that she is currently unable to go back to work. I am hoping with the help of our family, friends, and community, that we can help make this difficult journey just a little bit easier for her.

Everything began back in September of 2022 when she started to have back pain. She scheduled a doctor’s appointment and didn’t think much of it. We all assumed that maybe she just hurt her back either at work or while playing with her grandbabies.

To all of our shock, an X-ray revealed that a mass had developed on her spine. Aunt Jean’s surgery was quickly scheduled to remove and biopsy the spinal mass, with the hopes that we would have more answers. Unfortunately, this lengthy surgery revealed more spots on both her pancreas and liver. It didn’t take long for us to learn that Aunt Jean was suffering from Stage 4 soft tissue sarcoma. Since then, she has started radiation therapy and will soon begin chemotherapy.

My Aunt does not know about this page yet, and I hope that when she finds out she doesn’t kill me. I know if I would have asked her she would have said no because she wouldn’t want to burden anyone. She is a selfless person who never asks anyone for anything. She is the type of woman who would always say, “Don’t worry about me. Worry about you.” We all agree that it is time for her to sit back and let us help, while she puts all of her energy and focus on kicking cancer’s butt!

Aunt Jean is a fighter, and we have zero doubt that she is ultimately going to win this battle. We look forward to the day that this can all be in the rearview mirror. Until then, I’m asking that we show her some love and support and rally around her and help her out in any way we can. The money collected on this page will go towards any financial necessities she has during this difficult time, including her rent, bills, Uber rides to treatment, laundry services, hot meals or anything else that’s needed.
