Love and Support for James Fua's Family

On April 24, 2023, our world was turned upside down with the loss of the Mr. Aloha of our family, James Albert Fua. James was a father to 2 beautiful children, Leo (6) and Luna (4), and best friend and husband to my sister Siera. He was also a beloved brother, son, grandson, uncle and friend to all that had the priviledge of meeting him.
James grew up all over the globe in places like American Samoa and Saipan but after spending 4 years in the army in Hawaii and meeting Siera, he decided to call Oahu his true home, which he resided in for over 20 years. Afterwards he devoted his life to developing his skills in the construction industry and quickly became a jack of all trades, he did everything—from building rock wall castles and swimming pools to home and commercial renovations, toiling and studying his way towards becoming a contractor. This was James’ dream—to provide for his family and to add his mark to the man-made beauty of the world.
James had the habit of befriending strangers from all walks of life. When he first came to the islands, it wasn’t long for him to befriend what seemed like half the island chain. James had the largest heart in our family, it was so hard to contain that it often escaped through the corners of his Cheshire cat grin or boomed through his infectious laugh. James always took the time to either lend a helping hand, the clothes off his back or his company while kicking back with a few beers to listen to someone’s life story. It didn’t matter if he knew them for 2 seconds or 2 years; he was always a friend one could depend on.
James was the sole breadwinner, he was a driven individual and worked incredibly hard to provide a comfortable life for his family. In James’ quest to find more opportunity, he commuted between Hawaii and the West Coast—working on a myriad of different contracting projects. Sadly, James left us much too soon and now his family must learn to pick up the pieces of normalcy shattered by the grief of losing a husband and father. This fundraiser is meant to buy some time to ease the burden on his family while they navigate the unpredictable tides of grief and all the complexities that follow with this unexpected and sudden loss. This is also meant to aid in memorial expenses to celebrate the life of this wonderful man, which the date will be determined at a later time.
While Siera is one of the strongest and most resourceful people I know, I hope this fundraiser will give her some peace of mind as she transitions into becoming the sole provider for her young family. I am incredibly grateful to have had James as my big brother and there will never be a day that goes by that he doesn’t cross my mind. James, we miss you and your absence is overwhelming.
Mahalo for your time, support and prayers.
