On March 8, 2026, our family suffered an unimaginable loss. My niece, Jaina, lost her beloved husband, Rafa Ramirez, in a devastating car accident in Porter Ranch, CA, where he was riding as a passenger. Rafa leaves behind their sweet 2-year-old son, Lucas, and their unborn baby boy, due this July.

There are no words that fully capture the depth of grief Jaina and our family are experiencing. Rafa was a bright light...joyful, positive, and always so thoughtful. Rafa was an extraordinary husband and father. Even at his young age, he worked hard to provide for his growing family and to build a supportive, secure home with Jaina.

Rafa was such a doting father. His pride in Lucas was unmistakable; he loved his adorable mini-me with all of his heart. This past December, Rafa and Jaina shared the happy news that they were expecting their second child. Just two weeks ago, they learned they would be welcoming another baby boy. Their future was bright and full of promise.

In the wake of this heartbreaking loss, many kind and generous people have reached out asking how they can help Jaina navigate the difficult road ahead. All donations will go directly toward funeral, burial, and memorial expenses. Remaining funds will be used to support Lucas and the new baby as Jaina prepares to raise her two boys without her best friend whom she loved so deeply.
