Love and Support for David & Joyce Vanderpool

Donation protected
Many have asked how they can help....Here is how you can help David and Joyce Vanderpool. First, by continuing to pray for complete restoration and healing. I know they have felt the overwhelming love and prayers. Others have messaged to ask how they can help in a practical and tangible way. GoFundMe provides a way for you to donate either anonymously or not and this will go to assist with medical expenses and bills while David is in the hospital and recovery. If you don't have a way to donate online and you would like to have their address, just email me at [email redacted] and I will send you their physical address as well. Joyce will be having her upcoming check to make sure none of the colon cancer has returned in her body. This is scheduled for March 5th and she asked me if she should cancel it due to dad's health and the out of pocket expense of the test. I think it is smart for her to continue with the test so she can have the answers she needs to be able to care for David.  At this point we don't know if he will have physical restrictions that will change his occupation, so to answer so many people out there that want to help, I think this is a wonderful way for you to be able to bless them. For those who may not know everything, please read below:

January 2021 had many unexpected turns for David and Joyce Vanderpool. What started out with muscular type pain in the lower back and neck, progressed to multiple Family Doctor visits, a trip to the ER and then immediately finding out David required Emergency Life Threat Surgery. The MRI results came back showing a narrowing of the spine at the C3-C6 vertebrae, with a Spinal Epidural Abscess at C5-C6 that had already caused infection to spread to the discs between C3-C4 and C5-C6.  If this had gone undetected for much longer, David would not be here with us today. Due to the infection being in his bloodstream, they have to keep him in the hospital until the lab cultures come back clear. During this hospital stay they had to check to make sure the infection did not spread to his heart valves, urinary system or other organs. They also found a bleeding ulcer from the high doses of Naproxen the Family Doctor had him on prior to the hospital doing the MRI and finding the abscess.  We are pleased to say the surgery went well, the heart valves and kidneys were not infected, 2 of the 3 cultures came back as clean and the ulcer is healing. David is working on physical therapy while in the hospital and then he will have to be transferred to Inpatient Rehab. As of now, the surgeon stated he will probably have to have a PICC Line from 6 weeks - 3 months to continue receiving IV antibiotics once he is able to go home. He is a Door & Trim Shop manager for a lumber company and he makes exterior doors that weigh 80-100lbs at times. He was 8 months away from being able to have Medicare, so the out of pocket expense along with bills from loss work time will add up quickly. I know people wanted to send flowers, but due to COVID he can't get deliveries at the hospital. He has served in a number of churches and schools over my 38 years on this earth and he never once did it to get rich. Those that know David and Joyce, know the love they have for everyone that comes into their lives. You know the kindness, compassion and passion they put into all that they do, whether it is making a meal, designing a fundraising banquet, coaching bible quiz, teaching an object lesson, directing a choir, driving a school bus, visiting the shut-ins, singing, painting, sewing gifts for others, baking bread, staying up all night with youth at lock ins, playing games, hosting bible studies, dinners or choir parties, handing out food at Harvesters and coordinating the deliveries, or building doors. The list goes on and they have put their heart into each task and ministry. This was a way I figured we could love on them in return. Thank you so very much to each of you for your kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity!
