Hello to our friends and family, both near and far. My mom, Janet (Spradlin) Officer is facing the battle of her life. Beginning in June, she has had a bad cough that just will not let up. At first, she didn't give it much thought. She'd had a cold and a cough is part of the territory with that. But it would not go away. It kept getting worse. She saw her primary care provider who prescribed antibiotics. She ended up in the ER many times for trouble breathing. Several rounds of antibiotics and two bronchoscopies later, we have the answer no one was expecting. She has stage 4 lung cancer. As you can imagine, this has been devastating. It's hard to know where to even start. My parents have worked their whole lives taking care of others. My mom always wished she could open a restaurant to feed the world. Now she needs taking care of. My dad, Keith, is 78 but is still working at the shop when he can, to try and pay the bills. My mom has been unable to work due to her health problems. The medical bills as well as the day to day bills are piling up while they try to deal with this scary diagnosis. Any amount you can give would be wonderful. Even if you cannot give, any love and prayers you can send to mom and our whole family would be so appreciated.
