Love Academy is a non-profit 501C3 devoted to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility through sports and academics. Love Academy aspires to be an outstanding educational-athletic organization that provides a high-quality experience to every student-athlete as well as teach and inspire leadership.
At Love Academy, we make it a point to prepare our youth to succeed in life as well as do everything they can to give back to our community, and now we are asking you to do the same.
We have partnered with pillars in our community after listening to the Colorado High School Basketball Podcast to help underprivileged student-athletes ranging from 5th-12th grade gives them the opportunity to go through the grassroots season without carrying the full burden of how their families will pay during troubling times. Grassroots basketball does not come cheap. Depending on the team, families can expect to pay $400 to $3,000 per summer to play, including uniforms. That does not include transportation to and from practice or games, hotel rooms, food, gas, or admission for those not playing. Most programs offer financial assistance for players who need it, but it only covers the cost to join the team, not the peripherals.
This past year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, there have been setbacks, and it has affected all of us in some way or another. For plenty, it was financially and Grassroots summer basketball got unjustly put on the backburner on the list of priorities for families, not realizing how important extra-curricular activities and external support systems are for maintaining and demonstrating one’s interpersonal competence, having a network of supportive relationships, and how individuals deal with adversity.
Fortunately, Colorado basketball has a family of supporters who are willing to help alleviate some of those burdens, but as we all know, it takes a village to raise a child. We cannot fulfill our goals without a little help, and we want to help as many families as possible. Right now, we have just over 60 student-athletes that need our help.
Basketball means the absolute world to many, and it's Love Academy’s dream to continue providing a place that fosters a sense of community, trust, responsibility, and most importantly, family. You are our basketball family.
This is a crucial time for these student-athletes, so please, in whatever capacity you can help, whether through donation or sharing this page, we will be forever indebted. Help me gives these kids a summer in which the only thing they have to worry about is how they can help their team on the court.
