Laura had been experiencing excruciating pain in her upper chest for several days and, after finally deciding she couldn’t ignore the symptoms anymore, went to the doctors for some tests. On May 17, 2018 the results of her biopsy came back and Laura was diagnosed with
Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer.
Laura is absolutely incredible and balances work, school, teaching dance, and being fully present for her family and friends. Her busy schedule has never deterred her kind-hearted, bubbly spirit and she is remaining as optimistic as ever since, as the good news is, her type of diagnosis is one of the most curable types of cancer.
For those wondering what's next:
Laura was able to meet with an oncologist from Dana Farber and will be starting treatment quickly. She will be receiving 6 cycles of chemo during the next 4 months which will require her to be in the hospital for 5 days each month. The goal is for her to be in remission by October!!
But alongside the emotional and physical aspect of Laura’s journey, she will be faced with many medical expenses. Therefore, the goal of this fundraiser is to rally together and help Laura and her family with at least some of these bills. Due to a new work position, Laura is not covered with healthcare because of a 90 day "grace period"...& was also denied Masshealth. Now, with private insurance that doesn’t begin immediately, it is even more imperative that we help! To help eliminate some financial worry/strain, and allow Laura to focus on her recovery, would be a great relief. . . I truly believe that over the next 2-3 months, we can reach our goal!
