If you know our mom Luly, you know that she is selfless, kind, giving, hard-working, and just all-around amazing. Both of our parents are! We have been immensely lucky to have them. They have done everything in their power to give us, their 5 children, the opportunities that they never had. They have both sacrificed time and time again just to see us happy. How they managed with 5 children in California I will never know. What I do know is that our mom loves us and America as if it were her native land.
She has lived here 3x longer than she lived in Mexico and hasn't been allowed back to visit in over 30 years. She left behind her parents and most of her siblings (not by choice), and with the recent death of her parents, the home she grew up in will never be the same, even if she does get to go back one day.
Despite everything, and I do mean everything, from forbidden love to an almost untimely death. Our mom has persevered through more than many of us could even imagine. All in the name of love, family and the American Dream.
After legally entering the US on a student visa over 30 years ago (which was stolen), making a life for herself and her family, and keeping a pristine record on all fronts, she is SO CLOSE to experiencing the full American Dream.
In the little spare time she has had, she has been working with immigration to recover the documents proving the legality of her entry. Now, all that stands in our way is $8000.
