Hello, my name is Louise and I am a primary school teacher and paddleboard instructor from Cornwall.
I have been chosen to be part of an all-female crew sailing across the Atlantic, from the Azores to Antigua, in October 2019. This journey will form part of the eXXpedition Round the World voyage being completed by 300 woman over 2 years.
We will be researching the devastating impact of single use plastic and toxins in the world's oceans. This information will then be used to educate, inform and develop solutions with local communities, reaching out across a world-wide platform.
I spend a lot of my free time in, on or by the ocean. I find it heart-breaking to see the amount of plastic that currently washes up on our beaches on a daily basis. Being a part of this voyage will allow me to gain greater understanding of the impact that plastic pollution is having on our planet. Once I have completed the voyage I hope to use my experience to work with children and adults in my local communities to help find solutions to the issue of plastic in our every day lives.
To make the expedition possible, each crew member must contribute to the cost of the voyage. Overall, I need to contribute £7,700 to the voyage, and I am saving as much as I can to achieve this, but I'm also hoping you wonderful people might help to support my cause. I am also seeking donations to help me cover the cost of kit and travel that I will incur for the voyage.
