Louise & Michael Castaneda Battle Cancer

Hey guys it’s Angela Everett. This is all new for me, I’ve never started a Go Fund Me before for personal reasons but here we are. My mom Louise was diagnosed in January of this year with colon cancer, and immediately had surgery to remove half her colon. She has had chemo treatments every 2-3 weeks since then and is still in treatment. We were told in January that her cancer is either Stage 2 or 4. More scans in October will determine whether or not her cancer has stayed contained in her colon. Shortly after my mom was diagnosed in January my 44 year old brother Michael started having similar symptoms to my mom. His symptoms have continued all year and worsened over the summer. In late summer he obtained medical insurance so he could have a colonoscopy done. Yesterday we got the news my brother has Stage 3 or 4 rectal cancer. Further testing this week will determine if the cancer has spread making it Stage 4. My brother has never been married and pretty much always lived with mom. This year has been difficult in several ways walking through cancer treatment with mom. But now we are looking at months of chemo and radiation for my brother as well as surgery, plus mom continuing her chemo treatments. My mom is 70 years old living on a fixed income, and because of severe cancer related symptoms my brother has had to quit his manual labor job. If chemo affects him like it has affected my mom he will likely not be able to work for months while he is in treatment. But the bills don’t stop, and the medical bills keep coming. We have pulled together as much as we can as a family, but nothing prepares you for having two people in your immediate family simultaneously with cancer. My target goal for my mom and brother is $15,000. They have enough to think about and pray about already. I don’t want them to add money to their worries. I think $15,000 will help them pay extra medical bills, make up some for my brother’s loss of income, and give them extra cash for gas and food when they go to countless doctor’s visits over the next year.
