Louise Kangok, a beloved mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 18th, 2024 at 8 am.

Louise worked tirelessly to advocate for the medical needs of Inuit as well as provided interpretation during their medical visits here in Ottawa. She was a treasured member of the greater Inuit community and her absence will be felt deeply as her warmth and kindness touched many.

Louise also had a deep love for Jesus and despite weathering many storms in life, she never wavered in her faith. She not only advocated for the needs of others but was also known as a prayer warrior who cared deeply for the hearts of others.

She is survived by her children, Daniel, Kim, Jessie & Jonah Kangok, her grandchildren, Alex Kangok, Jenifer, Jonathan, River, & Ava Lewis, and her great-grandchildren, Stanley & Solomon Attagutsiak and Alexander Holley.

On behalf of her family, we are setting up this GoFundMe to help cover the costs of her cremation and memorial arrangements. All of the proceeds will go directly to the family.

Louise, you were and still are so dearly loved. Your sweet spirit was a light and joy to each of our lives and though we grieve you are no longer with us, we know you are now held in the arms of Jesus.

Our hearts and prayers go out to her entire family during this difficult time and to each person who had the privilege of knowing and being loved by her.
