Hello, my names Matt. I created this fundraiser to help my mom out in paying for my late Dad’s travel insurance deductible. If she doesn’t pay the $10000 deductible she will be on the hook for a bankrupting amount in excess of $450000 USD.

My parents went in person to BCAA and were told two conditions that were stable did not need to reported on the health questionnaire. This was incorrect and resulted in the activation of what should’ve been zero dollars becoming a $10000 deductible.

We went to California on what we thought was going to be a fantastic family vacation together, but ultimately my dad ended up intubated on the second day of the trip and passing from COVID pneumonia a week later.

We have went through all ombudsperson and complaint processes we can and we are waiting for one against the agent (we have been told it is unlikely to be approved due to he said she said and my father being deceased). Now I’d like to help my mom out and try and raise the funds to help get this paid without thrusting a senior on a set income into further debt due to an administration error on the insurance agents part.

No one that’s dedicated their career to public service with BC Pension Corp (and other divisions) should have to worry about how they’re going to pay off a huge $10000 debt they shouldn’t have in the first place.
