Louis’ COVID Medical Fundraiser
The Story:
Louis was hospitalized at Emanuel Medical Center Sunday, 7/5/20, due to him having difficulties breathing, pain in his chest, coughing, fever, elevated white cell count, and high blood pressure. On Monday, 7/6/20, Louis’ COVID test returned and confirmed our greatest fear for him that he was positive for COVID-19. Monday night he was moved to the ICU. Then on Wednesday morning his doctor made the decision that it would be best for Louis to be put on a ventilator to give his lungs a break. Friday morning his medical team in Swainsboro and Birmingham, AL decided that it would be best for Louis if he was transferred to a bigger hospital that had the medical team and care that he would need. We received the call just a few short hours later that West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Fl had accepted him as a patient. He was flown to Florida Saturday, 7/11/20. He is still on the ventilator and is receiving great medical care. He are all hopefully and praying that Louis will be to fully recover from this virus. This morning, 7/12/20, Louis was able to receive a donors plasmas that has the antibodies for COVID-19. This is awesome news and a blessing that he is already receiving this treatment. Louis is stable at this point but is not out of the woods yet. With this virus things can change in a moments notice. We are being told that his stay in the ICU can be anywhere from 2 to 6 months.
The Back Story:
8 years ago (2012) Louis was hospitalized with double pneumonia and paced on a ventilator. He was originally hospitalized in Emanuel County and was quickly flown to Savannah, GA after progressively getting worse. Once in Savannah and his condition continually getting worse he was flown to Winston Salem, NC where they were able to help Louis wean off the ventilator. Louis did make a full recovery and after a few months was able to return home to his family but not without some permanent lung injuries.
When the news broke earlier in the year about the coronavirus we all knew that Louis was among the many that did not need to contract this virus. But we know that God has a plan for Louis’ life and that he was then and is now his ultimate healer. Please lift him up in your prayers. Give if you feel called and are able to do so. Louis needs ALLthe prayers he can get. And please share his story because we trust and believe that God can heal him again. We love you all. And all of your prayers are being felt.
Love his little sister,
