Louis Arnold is a father of four, life long resident of Rutherford, NJ. He has dedicated his life to coaching little league baseball, has volunteered in the Rutherford Fire Dept, and Ambulance Corps before his retirement. Louis also served 27 years as a police officer in the Rutherford Police Department where he retired as a Sergeant. His career in law enforcement was tragically cut short when his patrol car was struck by another vehicle, where the driver was distracted, ran a stop sign, and caused Louis's patrol car to strike a tree. He suffered a dislocated jaw, single hip replacement, concussion, and broken hand . After this accident, Louis was never able to fully go back to work and recover, causing his early retirement. Throughout his career, Louis has been awarded the medal of valor, numerous life saving awards, exceptionaly duty medal, among other awards.
On April 4th, 2018, Retired Sgt. Louis Arnold was taken to the emergency room in Hackensack for having symptoms of a possible stroke, including drooping on the left side of his face, slurred speech, and loss of motor skills on the left side of his body. Upon arriving at the hospital, doctors conducted numerous tests and tests revealed a large tumor on the right side of his brain. The neurosurgeon determined that an emergency operation was necessary in order to remove the tumor and save his life. After a 5 hour surgery, the neurosurgeon announced that they were able to remove 95% of his tumor, but the 5% remaining needed further treatment. Since then, Louis has undergone 3 additional procedures in order to address blood clots, blood tranfusions, and possible strokes, while his family stood by him. Doctors are still conducting tests and Louis remains in the hospital where he is having difficulty recovering. Louis awaits years of chemo treatment and physical therapy once he is able to recover. I am raising funds to help Louis's family deal with the financial struggles that have come from this tragedy.
