Some of you may know I’ve had an incredibly stressful week caring for my cat, Louie.

On Monday (5/1), Louie began experiencing urinary blockage issues. Over the following week, we made 9 vet visits trying to determine the cause. When a cat goes longer than 24 hours without urinating, it becomes life-threatening, and unfortunately, we kept hitting that critical threshold.

On Sunday (11/1), after yet another 24-hour period without improvement, I admitted him into emergency care and finally received some answers.

Louie had a full blockage. He required an emergency catheter, scans, and was found to have a large bladder stone as well as a severely inflamed bowel. Yesterday, he underwent surgery to remove the stone, along with a Perineal Urethrostomy, to prevent future blockages.

Between 3am Uber trips to emergency, administering 6 medications on a strict schedule, and the emotional toll of seeing my baby in pain, I am completely drained — both emotionally and financially.

Because stress can worsen this condition, I tried to keep my little man at home for as long as possible. He needed constant supervision, which meant I was unable to work at all last week.

Louie’s medical costs so far total $15,426.

Hospitalisation alone costs $1,000 every 12 hours. I’m hopeful he’ll be able to come home today (13/1).

These costs have completely depleted my savings and left me in a very vulnerable position. I’m asking for $1,500 to help cover the income I lost while caring for him during this emergency and a small portion of treatment.
