Louie got out from our new house on Saturday evening (7/11) and ran into the busy street. He was immediately hit by a car that was going about 45 mph and could no longer walk. We took him to the emergency vet and x-rays showed that he fractured his pelvis in 4 places and would also require a femoral head ostectomy. The cost of just his hospital stay to stabilize him for surgery is already over $5,000 for 48 hours due to the amount of care/medication he needs. The surgery and recovery will cost about double that.

Louie is family to us, and we want to do everything we can to bring him home. Our first child is due September 1st and we can't imagine starting this next chapter without having him around. He is 11 years old, but still has so much life left in him. As some of you know, we had to put our 14 year old family dog down this week, and I can't imagine losing the both of them within days of each other. 

The surgeon will determine his stability on Monday to find out when we can do surgery. The longer the delay, the higher the costs.  Any contribution towards his surgery and recovery is greatly appreciated.
