Dear Friends and Family,
Our sweet, 5 year old, Lou Reed Bear Cub Swords the cat needs surgery. Can you help us offset our $6k in emergency vet bills for November (so far)?
Lou’s Condition:
On November 5, Lou was hospitalized near death’s door with “Feline Idiopathic Cystitis” a “common” condition (though we hadn’t heard of it) typically caused by an elevated stress level and sometimes genetic causes in male cats, where they produce painful crystals in their urine which can cause potentially fatal blockage and kidney damage.
Lou’s emergency vet bills for November are currently expected around $6k:
Lou’s emergency bills for 3 days of life-saving hospitalization and stabilization last week totaled $3k. Additionally, his needed surgery, perineal urethrostomy, to widen his urethra so that these crystals never threaten his life again is quoted at another $2700-$3k for the only available surgeon in town (though we are researching other surgeons in nearby towns), bringing us to near or above $6k in emergency vet bills so far in November for Lou. Also, Lou is on 4 medications every 12hrs, Rx foods for life and close watch at home, and will require more tests before his surgery.
We are picking up extra shifts at our day jobs to raise funds and we still need help with these hefty unexpected costs.
We cannot imagine life without our social butterfly, love bug, funny Lou cub. We love him so much. He has been snuggling and purring in our arms every night since he came home, taking care of us even while he is so sick himself.
This is our first GoFundMe. We are humbly hoping to raise $1500 to offset our $6k (so far) in unexpected vet bills.
Anything and everything, including $5, helps us so much.
Thank you for anything that you can spare to help our sweet Lou cub and help us! Sending love and healing de-stress vibes to everyone as I know we all need it. We appreciate you so much!
