I'm sure that most everyone reading this has either suffered personally or has been close to someone who has struggled with addiction. Lori, Jon and Kristin Bratton are experiencing firsthand how addiction can grab hold of a loved one like a vice. Even the brightest and most talented can get caught up in this disease as it does not discriminate.
On October 3, Lori received a call that her oldest daughter, Lindsay, was being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit with severe alcoholic hepatitis. Lindsay is a very bright and talented woman like that I mentioned above.
After spending a little more than a week in the hospital, Lindsay bravely agreed to travel to Massachusetts from Iowa to enter a rehabilitation center. Some will wonder why so far. A very close friend of Lindsay's did a lot of research to help the family find the right place that was both reputable and would accept her insurance. While there, Lindsay had to be readmitted to the hospital for an unknown infection. After a few days of IV therapy she was discharged and returned to the rehab center. Sadly within a couple of days she was again admitted to the hospital, this time in kidney failure and is in need of a liver transplant.
As of today, Lindsay is sedated with a breathing tube in place and receiving aggressive treatment including dialysis. Lindsay is currently in respiratory distress due to the fluid that has built up in her body. Lori, Jon & Kristin are currently in Massachusetts at Lindsay's bedside hoping and praying that Lindsay has the strength to pull through.
This family is going to incur many expenses including travel and lodging expenses, as well as medical costs that won't be covered by insurance.
Friends and family, please consider supporting this GoFundMe page by making a donation and then sharing on your social media pages. I know money can be tight so please understand that even $5 is very much appreciated. Let's work together to help eliminate a bit of the financial stress for the Bratton/Jones family.
