Lost wages, etc., due to a detached retina

Hello, My name is Stuart Bentley, and the image above is what the world now looks like through my left and right eyes 11 days post-emergency surgery. At 12:06 am on Friday, November 18th, I lost half of the vision in my left eye as I walked to my car after a day of film work. I went to Emergency at the Peter Lougheed Hospital, and they transferred me to the Emergency at the Rockyview Hospital, because that is where the emergency eye clinic is located. The eye surgeons that saw me let me know that my retina had partially detached, and unless I had surgery right away, it could detach completely, and I may never recover my vision. The surgery included having a medical gas bubble injected into my eye to act as a splint to hold the retina in place. I had to drop out of a musical I was acting in that was paying me a nice stipend of $1500 and cancel several Santa appearances. I have been appearing as Santa for private events for nine years. More bookings were coming in each day, and I estimate I will lose at least $2000 from Santa work. I also can't do audiobook narration, and while I can get the current book I am narrating done in January (hopefully), I will not have any income from any work for several weeks. Another $2000 of income wiped from my ledger for December.

All told, between the money lost from Santa work, narration, and the play, I will be out at least $5000. Your donation will allow me to cover my expenses, including paying for Laura's long-term care. (My wife Laura has Lewy Body Dementia and her monthly care costs me roughly $2300). I wish I had a rainy day fund, but it has been raining cats and dogs for us for the last 20, or 30 years, with only brief sunny breaks where we almost climb out of debt before the sky opens up again.
