On Monday, our lives changed in an instant.

A fire broke out in our building, and just like that, our home was taken from us. We barely made it out. The smoke filled the space so quickly that we had to escape through the window just to get to safety. It all happened so fast.

What was once our space, our comfort, our routine, is now gone, along with most of what we owned. Between the fire, smoke, and water damage, the majority of our belongings have been affected.

We are a family of three with our young son, and this has completely turned our lives upside down.

We are incredibly grateful to be safe. We truly believe God covered us in that moment. That part does not get lost on us. But the reality of starting over like this has been overwhelming.

What makes this even harder is that we were under the impression that we had renters insurance. Based on how things were communicated by our property management, we truly believed we were covered. We have since learned that is not the case, and our personal belongings are not covered at all. That has been a heavy thing to process on top of everything else.

My husband and I are both entrepreneurs, so this did not just impact our home. It disrupted our ability to work and create as well. A lot of what we lost are things we use every day, not just to live, but to make a living.

Right now, we are taking things one step at a time and trying to figure out what rebuilding looks like for us. This fundraiser is to help us get through this transition, find stable housing, replace the essentials, and slowly rebuild what was lost.
