June 16, 2020 - will forever be marked as one of the most scariest and saddest but most grateful day of my life as a MOTHER, as a DAUGHTER, and as a SISTER. Every day I fear of the unknown and dangers that can happen to my daughter and to my family and yesterday was the day my fear came to be a reality. I dropped my daughter off to my mother and sisters house in Brook Avenue at around 11:30-11:45 AM. We weren’t able to go into the block because it was closed due to construction, so my sister came down to the corner to pick her up, kissed her a bunch of times and told her I love you, see you later and behave. My husband goes to take me to an appointment in 149th Street, I get there by 12 PM. I’m filling out paperwork and get called in by the doctor when my phone starts to go off, I hear a lot sirens out the window but pay it no mind because it’s always hectic down there. My sister keeps calling me and calling me but I don’t pay it too much mind cause Naya was with them.
Look at the text messages, LOOK AT THE TIMES!!! She had sent me pics of when she got there and changed clothes and then look at the other message - “there’s a fire in the building!”
I didn’t get to even finish the visit at the doctors and ran out the building I was in, sped walked from 149th street to 142nd Street. Honestly one of the longest walks of my life, I felt like I was never going to get there. Hearing and seeing fire trucks zooming by me.
The fire was on the SAME FLOOR (4th floor- videos are only based on our floor, see for yourself!!), like 10 feet away, fire started in apartment 24, my mothers apartment is 22! My sister rushed my mom out with Naya, she grabbed her dog and made it as fast as they could with everything against them. This is something that no one is ever prepared for, no amount of training could prepare you for this. I could’ve lost my only daughter, I could’ve lost my only mother, I could’ve lost my only sister, I feel in my heart and soul that GOD ESCORTED THEM OUT OF THAT BUILDING. As soon as they got out of the building an air conditioner that was in that window burst and exploded and dropped from the 4th floor out to the street.
2 apartments next to us, BURNT. Apartments across from us (where fire started) CHARCOALED! I’ve never ever been so grateful to God, prayer, my mother and sister for getting out and for making sure Naya got out without being hurt.
THANK YOU GOD!! ✨

Prayers and our belief in God that HE can and will get us a long way. But right now as hard as this is for me I ask from you to find it in your hearts with whatever you may have and chip in to this cause. My mother and sister along with her dog are currently displaced. Red Cross only helps for 3 days of hotel stay and then to the streets or a shelter. We have blessed to have been able to take them in for these couple of days. But they yet are not telling them anything positive. They are basically telling her she would have to move back into a burnt building while they fix what they can. My mother has a long list of medical conditions that basically prohibit her from coming back under those conditions, but do you think the landlord or the management company care? NOPE! 6-8 weeks with no gas in the building because they cut it off. Everything much more worse than how it was before. This really does suck because if the old owners were still around they I know would have handled the situation differently, but now with these owners they do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. They really DONT CARE! But they can harass her about the rent and making sure she’s not late or missing it and still charge a late fee. But for a real life emergency they are nowhere to be found. So again I’m asking you guys just anything you can do towards them and their situation, just something that can help them get on their feet until they can figure what’s gonna come. God bless each and every one of you. ✨ whether you donate, or share the post, God bless you guys and know that Jesus loves each and every one of you! ❤️
