Hi all. I haven’t been quite ready to share my story but today marks a wk since I took myself to the hospital & I feel more capable today. The last four months have been some of the hardest in my life which led to me not being able to care for myself like I should. I had back pain for most of last wk which isn’t unusual for my busy season but I woke up Friday morning and I knew something was wrong. I went to TMC where they quickly took me back and within a few hours they had discovered a 4.5 cm and a 1.7 cm gallstone had wedged into my duct. We wavered on having surgery because I didn’t want to miss work of course but ultimately the risk of complications from potential rupture/infection/sepsis prompted us to not wait, fast forward an hr later and I was being transferred onto the operating table. It was weird deciding to remove my gallbladder when the issue was actually in the duct but it was the right decision as my surgeon said it was actually a complicated surgery, as my gallbladder was oozy. I ended up having to get a drain because of it. I woke up from surgery feeling like I was having a heart attack and I couldn’t breathe. The next thing I knew it was hours later and I was back in the CDU. I had my drain removed Wednesday which has helped in making movement more comfortable. The doc did tell me I need to take my time and remember I had surgery less than a wk ago and need a few wks before I can return to work and then I’ll be at the mercy of my gut for a while during treatments. I’ll be out of work for an another wk, probably two. I’m considering a gofundme because I’m easily losing 6k in income during this time and that doesn’t include how long it will take me to return to my full schedule as I’ve been warned by my surgeon I may not be able to do long treatments until my body has learned how to digest without my gallbladder. I’m overwhelmed. I’m emotional. I’m tired. I feel weird asking for help when I’ve already asked earlier this yr for Kronos and we got an extra 3 months with him because of everyone’s generosity. I love you all. And I thank those that have reached out, offered help, and those whom sent help directly while I was in the hospital. I also have zelle and venmo. And I’m sorry to ask but don’t have any other option at this time.
