Hi friends, family and community. I'm reaching out on behalf of my parents, who have recently faced unimaginable loss and hardship. Their home was completely destroyed in a fire — a devastating event that took nearly everything they owned in an instant.

As if that weren't enough, while the house sat vacant waiting for insurance assessment, someone broke in and stole the items that may have been salvageable. What little they thought could be saved was taken from them, leaving them with absolutely nothing.

This loss has not only been material — it’s deeply affected their health and well-being. My mom is disabled and relies on stability, and a consistent home environment to manage her condition. Being displaced and under this kind of ongoing stress has significantly worsened her medical challenges.

The emotional toll has also been devastating for my dad. He was hospitalized shortly after the fire and was diagnosed with heart failure — a condition that doctors believe was either triggered or severely worsened by the chronic stress. He now faces constant medical appointments, including potential open heart surgery, and requires a rented heart monitor that alone costs $3,000 every month. Unfortunately, his condition has not yet improved, and ongoing care will be essential — and expensive.

On top of all this, their beloved family dog was inside the home during the fire. She survived, but needs continuing care which will add veterinary bills on top of all of the other ongoing expenses.

Altogether, this situation has taken a serious toll on both of my parents' mental and physical health. They’ve lost their home, their sense of safety, their health is suffering, and their beloved pet is requiring continued care.

My parents are kind, humble people who have always tried to do the right thing and help others when they could. Now, they’re in a place they never imagined — trying to rebuild their lives from the ground up while facing massive bills.
