I’m Dave Lower. I’ve been living in Lahaina, at the top of Fleming Rd. since 2000.

Over the years, I’ve worked as a designer & real estate photographer.

I’ve taken so many photos of beautiful homes in Lahaina & West Maui...many of them that are now destroyed and gone forever.

I’ve had a stable life on Maui until last Tuesday, Aug 8th, when the fires destroyed all of that.

With little warning, and only minutes given to evacuate, I grabbed my phone, wallet & car keys…then helped my neighbors get their 99 year old mother out of bed & into their car to flee.

I drove out right behind them, leaving everything in my house & yard behind. Everything I’ve accumulated over the past 23 years….Gone.

I’ve lost my cat, who was the sweetest cat I’ve ever had. I found him in the sugar cane fields ready to die & nursed him back to health. He was healthy & happy, but now he’s gone…engulfed in flames.

I lost ALL of my belongings, so not only is my little Ohana gone, but every personal item I own. Files, photos, papers, records, memories, money, clothes, shoes, electronics & equipment…all turned into ashes. Now I'm completely displaced and unsure where I'm going or what I'm doing. :(

Yes…there are going to be so many stories like mine on GoFund me, but if there’s anything you can do to help me get re-established, my heart would truly go out to you. I don't want to leave the island. I want to stay and help re-build.

The least I’m looking to receive is enough money to purchase new camera equipment & a new computer that allows me to continue working & provide myself an income, as I “figure things out”

Like many of us, I’m in complete limbo right now. I’m staying with friends, but I need to gather enough funds so I can regain my independence.
