URGENT: Last night my dad, a northern Californian in his late 60's barely escaped this ElkHorn FIRE (30 miles west of red bluff, ca. In the hammer loop down by skinners mill) flames up to 100 feet high..he escaped within a inch of his life, with nothing but the shirt on his back, literally .
He couldn't even put on a pair of shoes. This fire started from the lighting storm that happened on Sunday 8/16/20. It has consumed over thousands of acres already and is at 0% containment at this point.
This cabin was built in 1983,
As a dream home to escape the city life and raise a family, almost forty years worth of memories pictures of family members that were irreplaceable we lost our hot rod, antiques, four wheelers, tools, water tanker truck, hunting/fishing tackle, tv,bed ,pillows, family heirlooms, childhood toys. We lost 160 acres in this fire, all burned to the ground. A whole lifetime of belongings gone in seconds. Generations of memories and a home built cabin we can never get back. To say we're heartbroken is a under statement. My dad lost his heart medicine, his nebulizer all of his clothes and food and a lifetime of memories that will always be in the back of our mind.
This is a nightmare beyond belief especially during this pandemic when times are harder then ever before. To wake up one morning at 65 years old, and come to the realization that you are now homeless and on a fixed income, with not many resources available at this time is devastating. We are asking wholeheartedly for any help we can get. We need to provide shelter, clothing and food for our dad as this was his permanent residence for over 30 years, so this will be a new way of living for him and with love and support we will pull through, Even if you can just say a prayer and send positive vibes to our family during this difficult time. Were trying to get things back in order the best we can. However the realization is that things will never be the same again but with lots of faith, love, patience and perseverance I believe things will slowly get better.
Even if u can't help, please just share this
Thank you so much
