Lost everything I had saved to a crypto scam
Please Help Me Rebuild for My Mum and My Son
I never thought I’d find myself here, writing this. But I have lost everything I had saved — over £25,000 — to a cruel crypto scam.
I was new to the space and fell victim to someone pretending to be the owner of a trusted Discord group. I thought I was doing the right thing. Instead, in a matter of days, everything I’d worked so hard for was gone.
This money wasn’t just mine. It was meant for my family — for new windows and wet room for my mum’s house, where she has been housebound for most of my life. I’m 43 now, and I’ve cared for her daily for as long as I can remember. It was also meant for my son’s future — money I’d put aside to give him the opportunities I never had, whether that was helping him with a deposit for his first home or buying his first car when the time came. Losing it all has broken me.
Every day since, I’ve woken up feeling like the walls are closing in. My family don’t yet know the full truth, and the weight of that secret is crushing me. I feel trapped, like I’ve failed the people I love most.
I’ve kept every piece of evidence, every bank transaction, every message from the scammer. I’ve traced their wallets back to four major exchanges, and I’m working with the authorities, but I’ve been told the chances of ever recovering the money are painfully slim.
This GoFundMe is my last hope. I know it’s a long shot, even with the embarrassment of being scammed, I had to try. I can’t sit by and do nothing while my mum’s comfort and my son’s future slip away because of what’s happened to me.
If you can help — whether it’s through a donation or simply sharing this page — I would be forever grateful. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for even taking the time to read my story
