Hello friends, I am Suresh Chandra Sharma, a Kanpur resident, I lost ₹7.7 lakh while applying for a PAN card online for my great-grandson. This incident underlines the growing risks faced by digital users in India.

I applied for a PAN card for my US-based great-grandson Kanishk Pandey at Navsheel Moti Vihar in Sarvodaya Nagar on November 10. On November 10, I searched online for help and found a customer care helpline. Two persons, Avinash Awasthi and Rajeev Ranjan, posing as representatives persuaded me to act as a guarantor for the application. They asked for copies of his Aadhaar card, PAN card, and banking details, claiming that these were needed to process the application. Then I was trapped I need money I am a private worked in a food factory.
