Loss of Phillip & Tina Pennartz - Emily fights for her life!

Hello, my name is McKenzie Weatherred - close friend to the Pennartz family.

I met Katie over two years ago when I did her engagement photos. A couple months later Katie received the devastating news of her fiancé Toby had been in a horrific accident and ended up losing his life. Here we are just shy of two years since that gut wrenching day that shattered so many peoples lives. Last night Katie’s parents Phillip and Tina Pennartz, sister - Emily Pennartz and Katie’s son Trace Pennartz (6) were in a head on collision claiming the lives of Phillip and Tina. Trace was life flighted to Cooks Children’s Hospital. Emily was taken to Harris Methodist Hospital.

The Pennartz family was leaving a wedding last night 10/12 - when the family was part of a head on collision.

Per Traces recollection - Phillip hit his head and was immediately gone, Tina fell asleep and just never woke up. Both declared deceased at the scene. Emily had no detectable blood pressure at the scene. Emily was sent to Harris Methodist Hospital where she was sent into surgery. Emily’s brain is severely bruised and “jostled”. Emily’s chest and stomach are currently left open. Both of her arms and legs are broken with open fractures. Emily coded this morning but glory to God they were able to revive her. Emily is not in good condition and we do not know what the future holds for her.

Trace was life flighted to Cooks Children’s Hospital. He is alive and stable. He has suffered mutilple broken ribs, bruised lungs, fluid in his stomach and many many bruises.

Katie and Emily are doing their best to stay positive and be there for Emily. We are praying for a miracle. There are no funeral arrangements currently for Phillip and Tina; for we are waiting on Emily to pull through.

Trace is being taken care of by his grandma Maxine and Katie’s aunt. Katie is going back and forth from Emily to Trace.

Dru - Emily’s boyfriend finally made it in from South Carolina (work) to be at her side.

Katie has expressed the overwhelming reach of hundreds of people. We ask that you please be mindful of what Katie & Abby’s family is going through and please don’t over whelm them.

This GoFundMe will be going directly to Katie.

Abby and Katie will be having to plan a double funeral for their sweet, loving parents. And on top of that will need to cover Emily’s medical expenses for they think the insurance coverage may be non active due to her parents passing.

Katie will be out of work for the foreseeable future taking care of her family as well.

I am utterly heartbroken for this family. Katie has lived one too many tragedies. I wish I could take the pain from them all. Phillip and Tina were seriously the kindest people. So easy to have genuine conversation with, generous, helpful, loving and so supportive. This family needs blessed desperately. Emily has always been so kind, loving and supportive of me. I am just so devastated at this.
