Hi my name is Hal Bleiweiss
I am creating this GoFundMe request for my 77-year-old sister, Sara.
UPDATE as of 1/25/24. We are well on our way. Sara and her son Aaron are working daily to find suitable housing for Sara, and with the current rental market, move-out and move-in expenses plus the actual moving costs are overwhelming. So please consider sharing this link to your friends and family and contributing whatever you are able.
Sara's Son, Aaron Zander, is collecting the funds for her to cover the needed expenses: Rent, moving expenses, deposit for utilities, and help to actually move.
We are doing what we can, but it is not nearly enough. And this is the first time I have ever reached out for support. All funds will go directly to her to meet this overwhelming need.
On January 8th, Sara was shocked to receive a legal 60-day notice to vacate her home, “the cottage” she has loved, lived, and stitched in for 14 years. The landlord wants a relative to move into the cottage by March 10.
Due to the pandemic, the rise in interest rates, and a stroke she suffered in 2019, Sara’s income other than embroidery and Social Security came from part-time Mobile Notary assignments and had nearly vanished over the last four years. Her reserves were totally wiped out.
The sudden demand to move requires significant funding. The unexpected and unwelcome demand is already causing her severe medical and mental stress.
The deposits, the physical move itself, and medical bills are minimally estimated at $12,000.
Please consider helping her through this immediate crisis. Whatever you can do will be an act of love for what I consider a wonderful, loving woman And the best sister a guy could ever have prayed for
Sara asked to express her gratitude for whatever amount you can offer.
Thank you. Hal Bleiweiss (A humble brother)
A little more about my sister
Sara, at 77, is well known nationwide for teaching Victorian embroidery techniques through the Embroiderers’ Guild of America and in museums since 1999. Her designs and research articles have been published in magazines in both America and Australia. She has spearheaded donation campaigns after the Australian wild fires, for a medical air flight to reach a child suffering from terminal Hemophilia and for her local no-kill animal shelter. She is used to giving help, not needing to ask for it.
