Los Angeles Eaton Fire Relief for Michael and Roman Haynes
Donation protected
If you're here, you've heard of the wildfires wracking Los Angeles this week. My brother-in-law and nephew, Michael and Roman Haynes, are victims of the Eaton Fire which has devastated Altadena. Lovely Altadena has been their home since 2010, when Roman started first grade at Aveson Elementary.
On Tuesday night, January 7 (somehow, though it's been a lifetime, this was less than 48 hours ago, as of the time of writing!), they saw the fire approaching and evacuated [Updated 1/28/25: like others in Altadena, they never got an evacuation notice!]. Roman and their dogs, Louie and Blue, came to us, while Michael fought to save the home. Against the odds and with one extremely lucky break, he was successful and their home still stands, in a neighborhood now absolutely devastated by the fires. Roman's school, neighboring homes, all of the beloved "little free libraries" and things that make a community are now charred remnants of their former selves. The fire was so intense, a vehicle in a neighbor's driveway started melting.
The damage to their home, vehicle, and belongings is extensive, and it will be months of uncertainty, recovery, and extraordinary expenses. Michael will *never* ask for help, but I know he can use it. Thus, I am asking for support on his and Roman's behalf.
Please join me in donating to assist them with recovery. Every donation will go directly to them in order to cover the mounting unexpected costs beyond what FEMA will cover. Any help would be much appreciated.
With love and so much gratitude,
