For over 20 years, Rafael Larraenza and his dedicated team have searched every mile of the U.S.–Mexico border in order to find and rescue immigrants in need of life saving aid. Living near the border, Rafael has the unique ability to find lost travellers when nobody else can — or is willing to — he is frequently their last chance of hope.
Rafael Larraenza started Los Angeles del Desierto - a non profit, humanitarian, search & rescue group made up of volunteers that conducts search & rescue operations for lost persons in the desert between the U.S and Mexican border. As humanitarian aid advocates, not only have they saved hundreds of individuals over the years, they have also brought closure to an equal number of families by recovering the remains of those who passed away on their journey to the U.S.
But they need our help. As COVID impacts the economy, regular support has dried up. However, the stream of people fleeing desperate situations in Mexico and Central America has not slowed. Los Angeles del Desierto is in desperate need of financial support which will enable them to provide food, water, first aid and other essential rescue supplies to those they find.
