Stage 4 Cancer While Facing Divorce.

Hi, my name is Rebakah and I'm reaching out for my sister Lorretto.

On every other perfectly ordinary day, my sister Loretto went to work, did her grocery shopping, walked the dog and made meals for her family took care of the house. In fact every day for 25 this was her life. then something devastating happened that changed the trajectory of her life. A diagnosis—Stage 4 lung cancer with metastases to the brain and spine.

Her beloved Bernese Mountain dog died at the end of 2022 because of stage 4 lung cancer. Shortly after in 2023 Lorretto received the same diagnosis just 2 months before the death of her mother, who she had been caretaking for 10 years. Lorretto never told her elderly mother about her diagnoses, “There was no reason to frighten, worry or upset her, she said”. That is an example of who Lorretto is. Then shortly into her cancer treatments, her partner of 21 years decided to end their marriage.

Lorretto took care of the home and all other work while working. She provided caregiving to everyone, human or canine, and provided the background support for her partner who earned the income. She did all the invisible but necessary work that many women do that can leave them destitute when they get sick and the marriage ends.

Because of illness she receives a small SS disability income per month, but it does not nearly cover basic living expenses let alone medical costs. At the same time, she is facing legal fees and future housing and health insurance instability.

Lorretto is one of the most resilient, humorous, loving, curious and creative beings I have ever been blessed to have in my life. She can fix anything, helps everyone she can, and creates beautiful bonds with people that last forever. She loved her life. Lorretto still loves her life and wants to live as long as she can. Now, unfortunately she is living with not only the threat of cancer but the real threat of possibly not being able to pay for medical treatment while living with constant financial worry. She is facing a potentially devastating future that no one would want to have to face, and she is now doing this alone.

It is very difficult for her to ask for your help. Recently, a few car repairs sent her into crisis and was the catalyst for setting up this Go Fund Me. We need financial help for this beautiful human being, sister, friend, partner, caregiver and animal and nature lover, Lorretto.

Any contribution of any size will make a difference. Whatever you can give to assist Lorretto in her medical treatments and the expenses of life while going through a divorce, will help hold a beautiful woman through a catastrophic time.

We, I am asking you from the bottom of my heart to share this campaign with anyone you know who has been touched by cancer, divorce and/or the fear of losing everything. Knowing that people are willing to offer support will makes my sister feel more optimistic and help her to continue to fight this terrible disease. Every donation and share will give her greater strength and resolve by providing the resources to pay for the multitude of medical treatments she has to have. I am doing what I can as her sister and it is not enough, which is why we helped start this for her.
