Lori's treatment for stage 3 rectal cancer
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Lori Lasseter Hamilton, and I have been diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer that has spread to my lymph nodes. I will need to get radiation, 4 months of chemotherapy, then surgery to remove the rectal tumor. I have already accrued a bill of $534 with the doctor who attempted to perform my colonoscopy but was unable to because I have a rectal growth that prevented him from doing the colonoscopy. I have a $2,000 health insurance deductible, before my health insurance will start to pay for any tests or procedures or treatments. I do not make enough money to save up $2,000. I have already been through cancer before, when I had breast cancer 18 years ago at the age of 34. I was devastated when I found out that I have cancer again, at the age of 52, and I am not emotionally or financially prepared for it. I write poetry, and I am just now starting to receive awards for my poetry and get published more and more, after writing poetry for the past 32 years. Finally, at 52, I am getting recognition, and I don't want my life or my poetry career to end because I could not afford cancer treatment. I have survived rape, breast cancer, and a hysterectomy. I have already been through so much trauma in life, and I don't want to go through any more. Please help me, if you can, financially, to pay for my rectal cancer treatment. I appreciate it and I am truly grateful for any help you can give me. Thank you.
