Lorie Burke's recovery
Donation protected
On Saturday, December 29th, 2024, Lorie Burke and her husband, Brian, were involved in a tragic car accident near Wasaga Beach while en route to a family Christmas gathering. Due to the severity of her injuries, Lorie could not receive adequate care at her local hospital and was airlifted to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. Following multiple surgeries to repair and reconstruct her body, Lorie was discharged from the surgical ward today. The extent of her injuries is heartbreaking—she suffered fractures to her hip, tibia, sternum, foot, shoulder, and finger, along with facial injuries and the need for extensive dental work. Despite the gravity of her condition, Lorie is incredibly fortunate to be alive.
Her recovery will be long and arduous, but Lorie's determination remains unshaken. The family is hopeful she will soon be transferred to a hospital closer to home, allowing her to be surrounded by the loving support of friends and family during her healing journey.
As Lorie embarks on this difficult path, let us come together to support her and her family. She has been informed that she will require extensive rehabilitation and physiotherapy, both of which will be financially burdensome. In addition, she will be unable to work for an extended period. Your support during this challenging time would mean the world to her and her loved ones.
Let's support Lorie and her family during this challenging time.
