As many of you may have heard, Lori Kergan, aka 'POOCH' went for a mammogram last August. While most of us receive a letter in the mail saying our results came back negative and to rebook in 2 years; this was not the case for Lori. In just a few shorts weeks her life was turned upside down. She was diagnosed with breast cancer.
After much thought on the advice from her doctor, Lori had a lumpectomy in November 2018. Lori stayed positive and waited to find out if the results from the lumpectomy showed that the margins were clear. Unfortunately, the cancer had spread, and in January of this year Lori had a mastectomy.
During her recovery from the surgery she received another call with more bad news; her cancer had spread again, this time to her lymph nodes.
Lori's next appointment was with her oncologist. Together they discussed all the options and in the end came up with a treatment plan that consists of 6 rounds of chemo therapy - once every 3 weeks, followed by 3 rounds of radiation given over a period of 3 weeks in Kelowna. Following that, she will be on hormone blockers daily for 5 years and will eventually have reconstructive surgery.
I have started this go fund me page to to help raise money for Lori's treatment. The funds will help pay for travel & accommodations, prescriptions, day to day bills and expenses while she is unable to work.
Throughout Lori's treatment she has shown so much courage and strength. She refuses to be negative and only thinks positive thoughts. Let's help keep her feeling that way! Your donation will help her to focus on her recovery and not worry about how she can make ends meet.
Thank you for your immediate support.
