Lori Nichols Recovery Fund

Lori had her second chemotherapy today and tried the cold approach to reducing the neuropathy effect. From all indications, it was COLD. She is one tough chick.

She wanted to say that she is beyond grateful and her heart is full of love and deep gratitude, and that she is overwhelmed by the generosity and loving spirit of everyone who has donated or shared supportive words.

Lori would like to ask you to send your address to her at [email redacted] so she can send personal thank you notes.

Thank you all for your good wishes and following Lori's progress.

Updated with profound gratitude.

First, you are amazing. We are blown away by the generous donations and heartfelt good wishes for Lori Jean.

We have more than matched our goal due to your donations, and are incredibly thankful. Of course, if you would still like to contribute or send good wishes, it is  welcome and appreciated.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you again. Lori is an wonderfully loving person who always looks out for others, and it feels good to ease whatever concerns we can.

*********

My dear friend Lori was diagnosed with breast cancer in mid-April. She recently had a bilateral mastectomy and is a week into recovery. We will know in a couple of weeks whether she needs chemotherapy.

The wonderful faculty and staff she works with have donated to help defray the cost of copays, deductibles,  and prescriptions. However, there are still more unexpected expenses for recovery and comfort (for instance, she had nerve damage during surgery and in addition to the copays for physical therapy, she has had to purchase a $300 splint in order to help her arm heal properly).

Lori had been working two jobs until her diagnosis and surgery. She is on leave from her primary job, but will be unable to return to her second job until she has had substantial healing.

I am hoping to help provide a cushion to allow her the maximum time possible to recover without concern for the additional job.

It should go without saying that Lori is an incredible woman with a tremendous spirit. She has a heart the size of Nebraska and would give the shirt off her back to help someone out. We would love to be able to tell her, "It's okay. We've got this."

If you would like to contribute, please do.
