Lori Needs Our Help to Rebuild Her Life
Donation protected
My name is Matthew Sutherlin, and I am the owner of Green Bee Construction. I am working for Lori Wisnewski. She is a 70 y.o. widow who has been a beloved member of our community for many years. Unfortunately, her husband passed in 2015. She raised 5 children in the Church and, like the rest of us, has had her share of challenges.
I took on this project initially with the interest of typical work-related needs. What unfolded was a bit of a journey that I did not expect. For starters, the insurance company tried lowballing her. After jumping through some hoops, we were able to secure the max the policy provided. Unfortunately, that was hundreds of thousands of dollars short of rebuilding the home she once had.
It got me to thinking, I wondered if other contractors in our community might have a heart to reach out and lend a hand or offer some materials, etc. We were gratefully surprised at the groundswell of support that occurred. Even with much support, Lori will likely lose 2-300k of value due to having to downsize to make her reduced budget work. So far, we have secured 50k worth of trades support, which opens the opportunity to put some of the finishes that Lori appreciates in her home. Things like a cathedral ceiling, hardwood, and tile floors are things that Lori and her late husband worked hard for and make Lori feel comfortable in her home.
If we are able to garner more financial support early in the planning phase, we might be able to add more square footage to her home, moving the value of the home slightly closer to the value they once owned, enabling her to leave an inheritance to her children. We have no idea how far this will go. But one thing I do know is that we enter the gates with thanksgiving and praise and thank everyone, especially the Lord, for making any of this a possibility!
Thank you!
