Lori Langan's Medical Expenses and Recovery

Updated Aug. 7, 2022:
Friends and family,
A lot has changed in the last three months since Lori's initial complications in late March. Lori was transferred to Omaha, but her recovery has been nothing but smooth. Unfortunately, at the first facility Lori was at in Omaha, she contracted MRSA after just a few weeks of being there. She had been making improvements, and this set her back significantly. Since then, her progress has been up and down due to our ongoing battle with insurance and the intermittent therapy she received because of that.
We finally got some good news when she was approved to be transferred to Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital here in Omaha in early July. Their facility and staff are truly the best of the best. Still, Lori has a lot of catching up to do on therapy and her staff are doing their best to find the right balance of medications to keep her comfortable, but still alert enough to participate in therapy.
In the last two weeks, insurance has denied Lori's continued stay at Madonna, which means right now Mike is paying out of pocket for Lori's care until they can arrange transfer to a skilled nursing facility.
Lori's care team is applying for various facilities in Arizona. We're hopeful that she'll be accepted somewhere with excellent care that's as close to home as possible. We expect Lori will be transferred by air in the coming weeks.
We are updating the GoFundMe goal to $25,000 to help Mike cover his additional out-of-pocket expenses at Madonna and Lori's upcoming flight transfer, which is not covered by insurance either.
Our family would like to thank everyone who has kept up with Lori's journey, sending countless cards, texts, flowers, donations and support. It's truly a testament to the kind of person Lori is. We're not done fighting yet!

Lori was visiting some friends in Minneapolis when she went into the ER with chest pain. It turned out that she needed bypass surgery, and she would have to stay in Minneapolis for it. Lori's surgery was successful, but the next day, one of the newly repaired arteries collapsed sending her into cardiac arrest. Doctors were able to resuscitate her, and she had a second surgery to put a stint in.
Unfortunately during cardiac arrest, Lori went without oxygen for two minutes. Since then, she's been in a comatose state recovering from the brain injury she sustained during those two minutes.
Lori's family, friends and doctors are hopeful that she will wake up soon (every day we are seeing progress!), but when she does, her road to recovery will have just begun. There's no telling what kind of challenges Lori might have when she wakes.
Lori and her family reside in Flagstaff, Arizona, so in addition to the stress of Lori's health and recovery, her family is also incurring additional travel and meal expenses while they stay in Minneapolis to support and advocate for her. Lori's two children, Dylan and Bradley, are over 1,500 miles away.
Friends and family have asked how they can support the Langans with meal, travel and medical expenses. If you feel so inclined, any little bit helps as the Langans go through the unimaginable.
Thank you in advance for the support of Lori and her family!
