Hi my name is Lori Catherine. My doodle's name is Jackson Valentine. (Jackson for short).

We both survived a lithium fire (batteries) on April 2, 2026 around 2 am in the morning while we were in bed sleeping the thick black, hot smoke was being breathed in by both of us.

When the emergency team got to me they found no pulse and applied compressions to revive me. I opened my eyes and said; "I have a 68 pound doodle - look in the bathroom - get him out of here".

When I got to the hospital the electrical activity in my brain was so low they had to induce a coma to flush the soot out of my lungs. I was in a coma for 10 days and they they took me out of it. (By the way - your auditory is intact - so I did not know I was in a coma because I could hear everything)

I failed the swallow test the first time so they had to feed me by a double arm pik and all medications and food went in this way because the risk was now that I could die of pneumonia.

Later I found out that 2 days after the fire - vandals robbed my house items, purse with all my ID, drivers license, credit cards, and checks for my joint account with my mother who is in Losier Hall with dimensia. So the thieves were having a hay day with my money, cards, checks along with my RAD e-bike, acoustic electric guitar, electric guitar, and many other items that have not been named in this document. Suffice to say, I will not remember all the things smoke damaged or stolen.

Jackson and I are recovering but because of the Fire and Theft are 2 different investigations and waiting on documents so they can go forward to release money to me to live - it is a slow process.

Had it not been for all the Water Street heroes, rescue teams and Dr. Gerard Losier -I would not be telling this story today as the miracle was how everyone acted in a timely manner to bring me back to life from dead. THAT is the miracle they performed.

It was day 20 or 22 that I was able to have my first meal by mouth because of the tube that kept me breathing while I was in a coma and now I could not close my airways when I swallowed, but after the second test I passed the swallow test without the food and liquid going into my lungs. I was released from the hospital Sunday, April 26, 2026 to stay at the Rodd hotel (which was close by for me to walk since I didn't have a drivers license yet).

I was released 24 days to stay
