Hi everyone, I’m reaching out to see what we can do to help Lori Guliaeff and her family. Colleen Guliaeff has been my best friend since Lori was my preschool teacher. Lori is the most loving mother and makes me laugh until there are tears in my eyes every time we visit.

This July she went to the doctor with worrisome symptoms and the doctor rushed her to the ER. It was at that point she was diagnosed with unexplained cirrhosis of the liver, with the only treatment option being a liver transplant. Since then, she has been to the ER or hospitalized 13 times, not including regular office visits or the many appointments with her specialists. Over the past few months doctors have been working on getting her stable enough to move forward with a transplant. However, almost every time they stabilize one thing, another issue arrises. She has now been diagnosed with beginning stages of right sided heart failure and hypertension. In just the past few days, Lori has been admitted back into the hospital due to pneumonia and kidney failure.

I’m reaching out because the cost of her treatment so far and the medical equipment and medication required to support her at home, far exceed what is covered by insurance. Not only that, but since hiring a licensed caregiver is more or less out of the question, Colleen has been only working a few hours a week, to ensure someone is home with Lori 24/7. Colleen’s father, Lori’s husband, Andrew is the most hardworking, self sufficient man and never asks for help, but they’re letting me post this because the most important thing to him is being there for his wife during this time.
