Lori Cook with her fight to beat cancer
Donation protected
Welcome to our CaringBridge/GoFundMe for our dear sister, aunt and friend, Lori Cook. On February 28th, 2023, Lori suffered a stroke and was rushed to the hospital. Upon being admitted to the hospital and undergoing testing, doctors diagnosed Lori with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Lori then suffered another stroke a week later, and we learned that pancreatic cancer was the causing the strokes, as well as the onset of diabetes. Lori has since been released from the hospital, but her condition requires round-the-clock care from her family members and friends.
The prognosis for stage 4 pancreatic cancer is not good, even when treated with harsh chemotherapy. Alternative treatment has been recommended, and Lori is currently seeking relief through a treatment program that is not covered by insurance. The total cost of this alternative treatment will be in excess of $19,000. We all remain hopeful that the treatment will be effective, and we are grateful for the wonderful community support she has already received from friends, family and caring visitors, both at the hospital and at home. Although she is fatigued and in pain, Lori continues to be as positive as possible.
We are so thankful that many are looking for ways to help. We are currently in need of additional people to assist Lori at home with her care, so if you are able to assist, please reach out and let us know. We are also asking for your support in helping to ease the financial burden that Lori is facing during this difficult time. Any monetary donations will go a long way in helping Lori receive the treatment and care she needs, and we thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.
We will continue to update this page as Lori’s care progresses. Thank you all for your prayers, support, words of hope and encouragement. May God bless you!
