In Memory of Lori Ann Rodriguez

Lori Ann "Aguila" Rodriguez went to bed on November 25th and was found unresponsive the next morning - Thanksgiving Day - and rushed, by ambulance, to the hospital.  A day which was supposed to be spent cooking and celebrating with her two young daughters and her loved ones was spent fighting for her life. Tragically, Lori never regained consciousness and was called by the Lord November 28, 2020 at the tender age of 48.

Lori was a beautiful individual, loving daughter and sister, loyal friend, caring wife and an amazing stepmom and mother.  She was smart, strong, determined, offered the best advice, kept it real and always kept us laughing.  She enjoyed dancing Salsa, listening to Biggie Smalls but above all she loved being a mom and her daughters were her world.

Lori attended the University at Albany where she earned her Bachelor Degree in Social Work and went on to get her Master of Social Work at New York University.  A highly esteemed Social worker for over 20 years, she most recently served as a Program Manager for Children's Crisis Services at Visiting Nurse Services of New York and earned accolades and awards for her work with the community.    As someone who understood the value of education, it was important to Lori to provide the best education for her daughters.  Her eldest daughter, Olivia, is 13 and is currently awaiting decisions from top Catholic High Schools.  Her youngest, Elena, just turned 8 and is currently in the 3rd grade.  Lori sacrificed to make sure her girls went to great Catholic schools and we want to make sure we continue to honor Lori's dreams and wishes for them. The money raised through this GoFundMe will go directly to fund the girls’ education and all related expenses (tuition, books, uniforms, transportation, etc.). 
 
As sisters of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., our oath commits us to sisterhood for life and beyond and being there for each other during times of need.  As the #3 on the first line of Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Lori played a significant role in so many sisters' lives as President of Alpha Chapter and, subsequently, as National President.  Lori's girls are an extension of her and need us and we stand ready to support them.  Please help us secure their future and take on the role to guide these two beautiful young souls who will now have to learn to navigate this scary world without their mother.

Lori will be forever missed, but her legacy will live on through her beautiful daughters, as well as this gift of education we will share with them.
