Lori and William's Double Transplant Fund

As most of you all know, my dad was called for his double transplant and is currently in Cleveland clinic for 2-3 months for recovery. ❤️‍ My parents would give the shirt off their backs and could use some financial help for an apartment and money for back and forth travel, eating, etc while there.

Dont feel pressured at all to give. Prayers work just as well! God is good and will see this thru.

Dad is in really good spirits but very nervous

12:10pm Docs were in and plan to start this afternoon sometime.

1:30PM IN OPERATING ROOM! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 13 hour procedure is expected.

4:33PM PROCEDURE HAS STARTED AND SURGEON TEXTED MOM.

8:27PM Straight from doctor: Bill is doing well. We have just started connecting the organs. Everything is progressing as expected. Probably around 3 hours left if I had to guess. I will update you with changes. His recovery bed will be G53-04. - Ariell OR RN

12:21am Doctors are closing up. The old intestine was sooo sick they said and the new one is attached with his own colon (no bag! ) dad will be thrilled. They are keeping him overnight in the ICU with packing and skin closed. Will do kidney in the morning. They do not like to keep them under heavy sedation too long. They said dad is doing great and gave mom the okay to go ahead and go get some sleep at the hotel. She cannot see him until after both transplants are complete.

10:00am Mom got to hospital. Dad is in OR room. Unsure of start time for Kidney.

12:12pm. He is OUT and in G53-4. I can go back in 20 min to see him” - per Lori Barger McKinney!!!!

12:44pm I GOT TO SEE HIM. Hes still sedated and vented. This is normal procedure to heal. They will wake him a little but keep him vented until tomorrow when they go in for the final suture. They keep him skin sutured tonight just to make sure no big issues happen the first 24.

Doctor said he did SO WELL. He didn’t need any pressors or anything the entire surgery. Doctor was so impressed how kidney went in today as well.

9:00am ICU doctor called to let mom know they were taking him back in to close him up. He did not require any blood or pressors thru the night. He did require blood yesterday due to a drop as well as potassium but nothing concerning. They did do a sedation vacation and he seemed to come out just like they wanted. They plan on bringing him out today fully.

11:30am

The doctor just called and said that they finished stitching up what they could. It was just about 50% because the intestine was still swollen. He assured me this was nothing to be concerned about. They will still wake him up and take the tube out. They will go back in Monday morning and finish. Hopefully, the swelling will go down by then.

Update 5/4. : Dad is doing well, in a lot of pain. But talking a little and awake. Plan is still to go in and close up tomorrow 100%. Pray for pain relief and labs to be okay as his electrolytes are a bit off. He has been given 2 units of blood and has been metabolically off.

Keep praying THEY ARE WORKING.
