We start our journey with a dream of having our first child born at home . On the afternoon of Feb 22nd after 30 hrs of prodromal labor and things not progressing we decided to head to the hospital , upon arriving at the hospital , we were told we need to head to the operating room immediately for a c-section due to concerns about Mom and the baby . Less than an hour later we welcomed Ezekiel James into our arms . Daddy got to talk with him , and hold him for about 5 to 10 minutes after which he was given to Mommy to hold him to her chest and he even started to try and feed a little bit .15 minutes later in mom’s room they rushed Ezekiel off to the NICU for low blood sugar , we were told after they had him stabilized and settled in we could go back and forth and see him as much as we desired , and spend as much time with him as we desired . However after the nurses settled Mom into bed they administered a Covid 19 nose swab ,coming back with a positive test result . After that began a 10 day nightmare that only the peace of Jesus Christ and prayers of the saints carried us through. We were told we could not see our son in the NICU and we had to quarantine in our room for 10 days . I could write pages of things we experienced trying to convince doctors that the best medicine for our son would be for him to be with his mother , but it was to no avail . After a transfer to another hospital on Feb 25th due to low sodium levels , on March 4th at 12:01 am were finally admitted into the hospital to see our son . 40 hrs later Ezekiel was released from the hospital. We grew up in a plain community where health insurance was not an accepted practice. Therefore we did not have insurance at this time We greatly appreciate first and foremost your prayers and also any financial support you may be able to offer us . We are also interested in any advice as to how to keep this from happening to any family ever again . As we believe that this is not the way these situations should be handled or that any family should have to experience as parents , having there newborn torn from there arms and not being allowed to be with their child in some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. God Bless You and may the Peace of God rule in your hearts .
