Hello all,

Thank you for taking the time to look at this page, organized on behalf of Lorenzo Swinton and his family by The Forge Nashville (a local nonprofit and the home of his art studio). We are asking that you consider donating to Lorenzo’s medical costs following a devastating car accident earlier this week; please see below for more on Zo and his current situation - and how you can help!

Lorenzo Swinton is an incredibly vibrant and valued member of The Forge Nashville community. His residency at STATE Gallery + Studios has produced some of the most exciting, beautiful and significant work that we have ever been fortunate enough to hold in our space. He is a light to our program and a joy to be around. 

An already accomplished artist, Lorenzo was an easy welcome into our scholarship program - we instantly loved his work and the way he spoke about it. Over the course of getting to know him, that love only grew. The pride we feel in his work and in his choosing our community to be a part of can not be stated enough. 

Our hearts are with his beloved family as he heals from the many injuries he sustained from the car accident late Tuesday evening. We encourage everyone who can contribute anything at all (every bit helps) to his recovery and resulting medical bills. Lorenzo's partner Sarah and other immediate family are faithfully by his side, but they have a long and arduous road ahead to healing - and it's here where you can help. From Sarah, Lorenzo’s fiancé:

I would like to extend my love and appreciation to the Nashville Forge art family, the Clarksville art family and the many, many friends that surround us in their grace, love and support through this unexpected difficult journey. 

Lorenzo is a light and force for so many, but to me, he is my heart, my fiancé, my guiding light. He illuminates my world, he speaks to my soul. Lorenzo is the laughter that encompasses our household, my partner in all things, especially shenanigans, a mentor and friend to my 3 teenage sons. His soul is as beautiful as his smile. 

I haven't heard that laughter or seen that smile in more days than I'd like recall. On February 7, 2023 Lorenzo was involved in motor vehicle accident that has left him severely injured on the entire left side of his body, including a fully collapsed lung and damaged diaphragm.

To date he is on his third surgery and at least two more hang in the balance. The road to recovery to walk again will be the longest fight he's ever had to face. We are hoping with your love and support, we will be able to financially get him the care that he will need. 

Lorenzo just resigned from his job that left him overworked and stressed to accept a position that would give him fulfillment in serving our local homeless community. He was looking forward to this positive change that would allow him to feel rewarded in his daily work just as he feels rewarded in his art. In making this change he was left without medical insurance.

I am asking you from all the love in my heart for him, to please consider helping me achieve the help he is going to need for months to come. 

To know Lorenzo is to love him. Help me show him how we can come together as one to get him back on his feet (literally) and back to making us all smile!
